- Soul Airline Announces Comprehensive Revision to Flight Numbering System for Enhanced Clarity and Global Coordination
SEOUL, April 24, 2025 — Soul Airline is proud to unveil a fully revised and streamlined flight numbering system designed to improve clarity, consistency, and international connectivity across its global route network. As Soul Airline continues to grow as one of the leading PTFS airlines, this new system aligns flight numbers with key operational logic, including geographic region, hub origin, route direction, and codeshare designation. Key Enhancements Include: Regional Reclassification: All flight numbers now follow a region-based prefix structure. For example, flights to North America from Seoul-Incheon use the 100–199 range, Europe uses 300–399 , and Africa is designated within 800–899 . Hub-Specific Numbering: Flights originating from secondary hubs—such as Paris (CDG), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), Busan (Gimhae), Gimpo, and Jeju—are now assigned specific blocks (e.g., 10XX for Paris-originating, 15XX for RDU-originating). Directional Logic: Flight numbers follow a global standard where even numbers indicate westbound departures , and odd numbers denote eastbound returns to Korea. Domestic Route Structuring: Domestic flights are now segmented by point of origin. For instance, Seoul-Gimpo uses the 40XX series, while Jeju flights are in the 48XX series. Expanded Codeshare Integration: 60XX for Bangau Soul codeshare flights 70XX for PLUSAIR codeshare flights 80XX for other partner airlines 90XX for special codeshare arrangements “This revision is more than a technical adjustment—it reflects our dedication to precision, transparency, and the evolving complexity of our route network,” said the Soul Airline Route Planning Division. “Our members and passengers alike will benefit from a system that mirrors real-world aviation logic while staying true to the Soul standard of operational excellence.” The updated system is now in effect and will be reflected across all future flight announcements, booking materials, and internal scheduling tools. Effective immediately, these rules aim to enhance onboard safety by standardizing how power banks are handled, stored, and approved on all Soul Airline flights. Key Highlights of the New Regulations Security Screening All portable power banks are subject to verification at check-in and security checkpoints. Only units within the approved capacity range (or with the required sticker) may proceed. Others will be confiscated for safety reasons.
